Buying a house in Treignac,
from wherever you live

I am Josepha Favard, an estate agent with the Propriétés-Privées network, based in Treignac. I help buyers from the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and further afield find a house on the Millevaches plateau and in the Vézère valley — and I can do most of it before you even travel.

How I help you from abroad

  • Video viewings. I visit the house for you, live on video, and send you an honest report with the photos you never see in the listing.
  • The questions that matter here. Heating costs in winter, septic tank compliance, access in snow, broadband, the neighbours: I tell you before you book a flight.
  • One person from start to finish. From the first viewing to the signature at the notaire, you deal with me, in English by email.
  • Local tradespeople. If there is work to do, I put you in touch with builders and roofers who actually answer the phone.

A median is not a valuation: condition, land and drainage make the difference. Prices for every village of the area are on our area page (in French).

How buying works in France

  1. The offer. Once the seller accepts, the price is agreed in writing.
  2. The compromis de vente. A preliminary contract signed with the notaire or the agent. It comes with the legal diagnostics: energy rating (DPE), asbestos, lead, electricity, gas, septic tank, natural risks.
  3. Ten days to change your mind. After signing the compromis, a private buyer has a 10-day cooling-off period, with no reason to give.
  4. About three months later, the acte authentique is signed at the notaire’s office, and you get the keys. If you cannot travel, the signature can be done by power of attorney.
  5. Notaire fees are paid by the buyer, on top of the price: for an older house, budget roughly 7 to 8 % of the price, mostly taxes collected for the State.

Our fees are included in the advertised prices; the full scale is on our fees page (in French).
